The summer season boasts of vacations, days at the beach, pool parties, and backyard barbecues. Summer is just around the corner so I thought it appropriate to talk about the main character of the season: the sun.

The sun, sadly, has a bad reputation. It has been said it causes UV radiation damage, skin cancer, premature aging, cataracts and eye cancer.

I myself have had family members who have battled skin cancer. So since I have a family history (and I come from a rather pale-skinned family), I have been told to wear a hat, never leave without my sunglasses, use sunscreen and/or wear SPF sun-protection clothing.

I myself have been the victim of bad sunburns over the years. It is no fun!

But at this time of my life I start to question everything I have been told. Is it really true? Really based on facts? Or am I just becoming a conspiracy theorist?

I wrote a post last year titled, “Don’t Be Burned By Sunscreen.” In it, I basically talked about the chemicals and poisons that are in our general sunscreens. You can read that post here. I basically promoted mineral sunscreens where they don’t contain toxins and listed ways in what you can do to protect yourself from the sun.

Yet, in doing more research, I may have been somewhat wrong in emphasizing protection from the sun. So let me delve a little deeper into the sun and its effect on our bodies.

SUN BAD! STAY AWAY!

In a nutshell, the sun gives life to every living thing on Earth. It provides light. It provides heat. It drives photosynthesis so that plants give off oxygen and produce food. It influences Earth’s weather and climate cycles. It provides us with Vitamin D that is essential for bone health and many of our organ functions.

Basically, without the sun no living thing would survive. And God designed it to be that way.

So when I hear or read about things we should do to block out the sun it makes me think. Wear sunscreen. Wear sunglasses. Don’t go outside at this time of day. Don’t look directly at the sun.

And then there is Bill Gates and all the other climate-change activists talking about solar geoengineering. This involves reflecting sunlight back into space so that the Earth cools and the greenhouse gases are reduced. In order to reflect sunlight back to space, there are three ways they are considering:

  • Stratospheric Injection Aerosol – injecting reflective particles into the stratosphere to mimic the effect of volcanic eruptions and reflect sunlight.
  • Marine Cloud Brightening – increasing the reflectivity of clouds over the oceans by adding sea salt aerosols.
  • Surface Albedo Modification – reflecting more sunlight from the Earth’s surface by, for example, making surfaces lighter or modifying crops.

Now I don’t know about you, but unless we are in true danger and there is 110% chance that death and destruction is near, playing around with our planet and its atmosphere sounds too much like playing God. And, when in the wrong hands, this can be very, very dangerous. Plus, as we have learned multiple times in our history, playing God has never ended well.

All of these things we are told to do to block the sun and it’s dangerous effects and yet has there been NO sharp decrease in skin cancer!

It is still considered the most common cancer in the U.S and the world!

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation:1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70. More than 2 people die of skin cancer in the U.S. every hour. In the U.S., more than 9,500 people are diagnosed with skin cancer every day. The diagnosis and treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers in the U.S. increased by 77 percent between 1994 and 2014.”

Let’s red pill this, shall we?

SUN GAZING

Ancient Egyptians, known as the original sun worshipers, are responsible for the origins of “sun gazing” where they would directly gaze at the sun and believed that in by doing this, it gave them life and power. Here are some Egyptian depictions regarding their practice of sun gazing:

If you look closely at these depictions you will see that the sun “gives off” the Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol, “ankh” (located within the rays of the sun) which represents “eternal life”:

These depictions basically show how the sun gives life.

The only time, to be safe, to gaze at the sun would be 30-60 minutes after it rises in the morning and 30-60 minutes before it sets in the evening.

Benefits of sun gazing include:

  • improves dream recall
  • boosts energy
  • increases melatonin and seratonin
  • fights fatigue
  • decalcifys pineal gland
  • improves quality of sleep
  • helps with seasonal affective disorder
  • improves endocrine health

Karen McElroy, an Australian naturopathic doctor, wrote about the practice of sun gazing on her website. Here is what she said regarding evidence to support sun gazing:

At the International Congress of Naturopathic Medicine where I presented in Barcelona in July, I met an interesting researcher from India who was presenting new research on sun gazing. The researchers at the Pavitra Nature and Yoga Hospital showed sun gazing for 15 minutes for 2 weeks resulted in improvements in refractory error (short or long sightedness) with changes in visual acuity and discontinuation of spectacles in 25 out of 34 subjects in the case group.”

Dr. McElroy also talked about an Indian man who claims to survive only on solar energy:

“Sun gazing has become something of a growing trend in many places across the world. A popular technique was developed by an Indian man, Hira Ratan Manek, who claims he can survive on solar energy alone and doesn’t need to eat. Research funded by NASA looked into the phenomenon of sun gazing and studied the man. The team of medical doctors at the University of Pennsylvania observed Hira 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 100 days. NASA confirmed that he was indeed able to survive largely on light with occasionally a small amount of buttermilk or water during this time. The sun’s energy moves through the eyes and charges the hypothalamus tract and neurons and Hira’s were reported to be active and not dying. Furthermore, the pineal gland was expanding and not shrinking a phenomenon unknown for someone Hira’s age.”

Gary Brecka, a human biologist and promoter of wellness, agrees that sun gazing works wonders and it is a special gift from God:

Expose yourself to natural sunlight. First thing in the morning, first 45 minutes of the day, God gives us a very, very special type of light called ‘first light’. There’s no UVA; no UVB rays in this light so that it’s not the damaging rays from the sun. It still generates Vitamin D3. It has a positive effect on cortisol. Vitamin D3 at first light is the best way to reset your circadian rhythm.”

It is recommended you start by gazing at the sun for 10 seconds on the first day and then add an additional 10 seconds each day until you work your way up to 30 minutes every day.

SUNGLASSES

According to Statistica, in 2025, the global sunglasses market will generate a revenue of $26.32 billion dollars with North America holding the largest share in the sunglasses market.

Despite pretty much every American owning a pair of sunglasses, we still have high rates of skin cancer and cataracts. Why?

Reinhard Stanjek, an orgonite creator and proponent of using frequencies to heal the body, talked about the idea of sunglasses and how it is a lie in this video:

We have been made to wear sunglasses. Oh the sun is bad for your eyes. You are going to get cataracts and all of that. It’s not true. Your eyes were designed to absorb photons because the sunlight is the only perfect full-spectrum light there is. Nothing else. Everything else is artificial. Sunlight is the only pure full-spectrum natural light. Your eyes need that. It needs to get into your eyes. So what do we do? They make us buy expensive sunglasses or ray-bans. I’ve always avoided sunglasses all my life. That’s why we have sun gazers. A few seconds a day in the morning, the first hour in the morning, sunrise, and last hour at night, you can look into the sun without you harming your eyes.”

Naturopath, Dr. Barbara O’Neill, agrees, “Sunglasses are not good for eyes. You see, your eyes are an extension of your brain. If we go outside on a hot, sunny day, the strength of the sun is being monitored by the eyes and the message is sent to the brain. When the sun is very hot and very strong, it gives a message to the skin to close up little receptor sites so you don’t burn so easily. But if you go out into the hot sun with sunglasses on, you can burn a lot easier because your brain didn’t get the message that the sun’s hot and to close little receptor sites. Now if someone’s going to be driving in the city all day, sunglasses can certainly help. And if someone’s going to go skiing, white snow, blue sky, strong sun, they will need sunglasses because the glare from that snow can burn their eyes.

Do you find yourself needing sunglasses more often or feel like the sun is brighter than ever? That may be an indication of your own weak or degenerative eye health; just the exact opposite of what we are told by the medical field.

A possible reason for this to happen is because we are constantly surrounded by artificial light, which is an unbalanced spectrum of light hitting your retina; especially mass amounts of blue light generated by electronics.

And coupled with almost half of Americans deficient in Vitamin D, this is when diseases start.

So could wearing sunglasses actually be causing skin cancer?

Sunglasses filter natural light, removing UV. The pineal gland then receives light in a different, altered spectrum. Because of the lack of UV, the pineal gland won’t produce enough melanin, which protects the skin from skin disorders and skin cancers.

Furthermore, as the eye is hit with altered light, melatonin production decreases which, in turn, increases your risk of cancer. Melatonin has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth, strengthen the immune system and is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals.

In 2013, a study was conducted and found that women working a night shift for 30+ years were twice as likely to develop breast cancer than women working a day shift. This goes to show that being exposed to light is healthier.

In 1913, Dr. Albert Schweitzer, a German-French physician, opened a hospital in Gabon, located on the west coast of Africa. When he first arrived, there were zero cases of cancer. However, cancer then became a problem decades later despite the surroundings of the area not changing.

Why?

In the 1960s and 1970s, sunglasses were introduced to the population and were considered a symbol of wealth and status. The natives of Gabon, to incorporate themselves into modern civilization, began wearing sunglasses “even when paddling their dugout canoes wearing no more than a loincloth.”

And guess what? Cancer cases began.

Coincidence? You decide.

So what about cataracts and how the sun causes them and sunglasses will prevent them?

Well, there are a whole host of reasons why cataracts are formed and it’s not just because of the sun. These reasons include:

  • diabetes/high blood sugar
  • high blood pressure
  • pharmaceutical side effects
  • smoking
  • poor diet
  • obesity
  • deficiencies in vitamins A, B2, B3, C and D

To prevent and/or combat cataracts (without surgery), Dr. Barbara O’Neill suggests:

  • applying castor oil to your eyelids which will be absorbed by your lashes and skin
  • take herbs such as bilberry, ginkgo biloba, and eyebright
  • eat a high fiber, high protein, high good fats diet
  • stay active
  • stay hydrated
  • limit exposure to blue light devices
  • get 7-9 hours of sleep

For those of us (myself included) who wear eyeglasses, let’s not forget about the toxic substances used to create eye glasses and sunglasses:

  • BPA
  • Nickel
  • Lead
  • Cadmium
  • Dimethylformamide
  • Phthalates
  • Azocolourants
  • Azodyes

All of these substances are exposed to us and are known carcinogens. When buying eyeglasses do your research and try to find ones that are low-toxic or toxic-free.

SUN BENEFITS

Barbara O’Neill states, “The sun is not the enemy in the sky. It is the doctor in the sky. And yet how often it is hailed as the enemy. The reason why the sun is so important is because ultraviolet rays from the sun hit the skin and convert a form of cholesterol just under the skin to Vitamin D. And Vitamin D has been hailed today as the anti-cancer vitamin because of its ability not only to stop cancer cells running, but even convert them back to a normal running cell.

So what are some particular benefits of sun exposure? They include:

  • Hormones – when sunlight hits your pituitary gland in your brain via your eye, it positively affects your TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinising hormone), PRL (prolactin), E2 (estradiol), melatonin, serotonin, dopamine and adrelanin
  • Bones – vitamin D plays a key role in calcium absorption, promoting healthy and strong bones
  • Immune System – sunlight energizes T cells that have a critical role in the immune defense
  • Blood Pressure – sunlight triggers the release of nitric oxide in the skin which causes blood vessels to relax and dilate
  • Mood – those affected with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and other depressions may see a difference when exposed to more sunlight as it can boost serotonin levels and normalize your circadian rhythm; beta endorphins are released when the sun hits your eyes and they act as natural opioids

SOAK UP THE SUN

So what are some ways for YOU to maximize your sun exposure? What can you do to maximize the health benefits?

  • Wear Glasses And Not Contacts – glasses will allow oxygen to flow freely and reach into the eyes and allow natural light to hit the eyes via the sides; contacts completely encase your eye allowing nothing to penetrate the eyes
  • Use Blue Light-Blocking Glasses – wear a pair of these glasses after sunset to block the harmful artificial blue light that comes from our electronics and can disrupt our hormones, sleep patterns and eye health
  • Go Outside – spend at least an hour outside to absorb the sunlight and its Vitamin D; expose as much skin as possible
  • Apply Oil – using oils like jojoba, coconut, avocado and olive can hydrate and protect your skin
  • Turn Pink – your skin turning pink is NOT bad; it only means your blood circulation is activating to absorb UV energy into the bloodstream
  • Apply and Ingest Herbs – use natural eye drops like “Netra Amrit Eye Drops” to prevent eye disorders and moisturize and strengthen your eyes; take “Shodana Vati” which promotes eye health among so many other bodily functions
  • Eat Healthy Foods – bell peppers, salmon, eggs, seeds, nuts, sweet potatoes, lean meats, poultry, beans, legumes, squash, dark leafy greens, and broccoli to give your eyes the proper nourishment

HAVE A HAPPY SUMMER

Now that is time to pack up for the beach or head down to the pool, make sure to spend some time with the sun; it is summer’s best companion.

With anything God has created it serves a specific purpose and positive impact to mankind. He would never create anything that would be harmful to us.

And that includes the sun!
